SoFi Stadium Solar Lighting Project
How Outdoor Solar Outlet helped move selected outdoor areas from recurring diesel-light rentals toward customer-owned commercial solar street and flood lighting.
Temporary lighting can solve an immediate problem. But when the lighting need keeps returning, the economics of renting deserve another look.
At SoFi Stadium, selected outdoor areas were being served with rented diesel-powered construction lighting. Outdoor Solar Outlet helped provide a different option: commercial solar lighting equipment the customer could purchase, install and continue using instead of repeatedly renewing a rental.
Temporary Lighting. A Cost That Keeps Coming Back.
Diesel light towers and temporary construction lights can make sense for short-duration jobs. They can be delivered quickly, repositioned and removed when the project ends.
The buying decision changes when the same parking, gate or outdoor operational area needs illumination month after month.
Instead of evaluating only the next rental invoice, the customer can compare the ongoing rental expense against purchasing equipment that remains with the property.
A Practical Place to Start: The Parking Areas
For the parking-area portion of the SoFi Stadium project, Outdoor Solar Outlet supplied our 11,000W Solar Street Light model.
The photographed installations show two solar fixtures positioned on a single pole and facing different directions. The poles were mounted in large wooden planter-style bases, creating a practical configuration for the areas being illuminated.
This approach gave the customer purchased lighting equipment that could continue serving the property without renewing a diesel-light rental every time the area needed illumination.
More Than One Lighting Location
The SoFi Stadium work extended beyond a single photographed installation. Outdoor Solar Outlet supplied lighting solutions for multiple outdoor applications around the property, including parking-area and gate-area needs.
This broader project experience is important because large properties rarely have only one lighting problem. Parking areas, entry points, exits and pedestrian zones can each require a different fixture or mounting strategy.
From Open Parking Areas to Arrival Points
The project also expanded to entrance and exit areas using our 8,400W Solar Flood Light model.
These locations needed a different configuration. Floodlights and separate solar panels were mounted along overhead gate structures to place the lighting closer to the signs and pedestrian areas being served.
- Entrance and exit lighting
- Separate solar-panel configuration
- Overhead mounting arrangement
- Four solar floodlights used per entrance gate
One Property. Two Different Solar Lighting Applications.
Large commercial properties often need more than one fixture type. Parking lots and entrance structures have different geometry, mounting conditions and lighting objectives.
Rent Again — or Invest in Equipment You Keep?
A rental payment buys another period of access to the equipment. When the rental ends, the equipment goes back.
Purchasing solar lighting creates a larger upfront cost, but the customer retains the fixtures and does not need diesel fuel for normal solar operation.
Pay for continued access.
Rental charges continue for as long as the equipment is hired. Fuel, transportation, service and pickup costs depend on the rental agreement. When the rental period ends, the lighting equipment is returned.
Purchase equipment you retain.
Solar fixtures require an initial equipment and installation investment, but the purchased equipment remains with the customer. Maintenance, cleaning and eventual battery servicing should still be included in long-term planning.
The right answer depends on the property. A short event may still favor rental. A recurring lighting requirement deserves a full ownership comparison.
Still Renting Lights for the Same Outdoor Space?
Before automatically renewing another rental, evaluate the project using these questions:
How Long Will You Need Lighting?
A one-week project and a recurring year-round lighting need should not be evaluated the same way.
What Must the Lighting Accomplish?
Define the area, nightly operating hours, mounting conditions and target illumination before selecting a fixture.
Is Solar Exposure Available?
Solar panels need appropriate access to sunlight. Shade, nearby structures and seasonal conditions should be considered.
What Is the Full Cost of Each Option?
Compare equipment, installation, fuel, maintenance, delivery, pickup and financing over the same period.

What This Project Shows About Commercial Solar Lighting
The SoFi Stadium work demonstrates an important point: commercial solar lighting is not limited to small residential applications.
When the site, sunlight, mounting and operating requirements are appropriate, solar equipment can be evaluated for parking lots, event properties, entrance areas, roadways and other commercial outdoor spaces.

Before You Renew the Rental, Price the Alternative.
Send Outdoor Solar Outlet your site photos, property dimensions, lighting hours and current lighting setup. If you are already renting temporary lights, include the rental costs so you can compare the options over the same period.
