General Solar Lighting Questions

My solar light isn't turning on. What should I do?

Before contacting us, please check the following:

  • Remove the protective film from the solar panel.
  • Remove the battery safety tab if applicable.
  • Make sure the power switch is turned ON.
  • Place the light in direct sunlight for 24 hours before first use.
  • Cover the solar panel with your hand to test the light.

If the light turns on when the solar panel is covered, the light is generally operating correctly and may simply need a darker installation location.

If you're still having trouble, contact our support team.

Can I replace the rechargeable battery?

Yes. Most of our solar lights use replaceable rechargeable batteries. Use the battery type and voltage specified for your particular product.

Do solar lights need direct sunlight?

Direct sunlight provides the best performance. For many outdoor solar lights, we recommend approximately 5–6 hours or more of direct sunlight per day whenever possible.

Partial sunlight may still charge the light, but runtime and brightness can be reduced.

Do solar lights work on cloudy days?

Yes. Solar lights can continue charging during cloudy weather, although charging is generally slower than in direct sunlight.

Nighttime runtime can vary based on the battery charge level, weather, season, and solar panel exposure.

Do solar lights work during winter?

Yes. Outdoor solar lights can continue operating during winter as long as the panel receives enough daylight to recharge the battery.

Shorter winter days, snow coverage, and extended cloudy conditions can reduce available charging time.

Are Outdoor Solar Outlet lights waterproof?

Many of our outdoor solar lighting products feature weather-resistant designs and IP ratings such as IP65, IP66, or IP67.

Always review the specifications on the individual product page for the exact weather-resistance rating.

What is the difference between IP65, IP66 and IP67?

An IP rating describes a product's level of protection against dust and water. In general, higher water-protection ratings provide greater resistance to outdoor exposure.

Always follow the installation requirements listed for the specific fixture.

Do solar lights increase my electricity bill?

No. Standalone solar lights use energy collected from sunlight and stored in rechargeable batteries, so they do not normally draw power from your home's electrical system.

Solar Pathway Light FAQs

Are solar pathway lights worth it?

Solar pathway lights are an easy way to add nighttime illumination to walkways, gardens, driveways, flower beds, patios, and landscape areas without running electrical wiring.

How long do solar pathway lights stay on?

Runtime varies by model, battery capacity, sunlight, season, and weather. Many pathway lights provide approximately 6–10 hours after a good daytime charge.

How do solar pathway lights work?

The solar panel collects sunlight during the day and stores energy in a rechargeable battery. At dusk, a built-in light sensor turns the LED on automatically using the stored energy.

How far apart should solar pathway lights be installed?

A common starting point is approximately 6–8 feet apart, but ideal spacing depends on fixture brightness, beam pattern, landscape design, and the amount of illumination you want.

Where should solar pathway lights be placed?

Popular locations include:

  • Walkways and sidewalks
  • Driveways
  • Garden paths
  • Flower beds
  • Patios and decks
  • Pool areas
  • Landscape features
  • Entryways

Avoid locations where buildings, trees, walls, or heavy landscaping block the solar panel from sunlight.

Can pathway lights be installed next to a driveway?

Yes. Solar pathway lights are commonly used along driveways to improve nighttime visibility and define the edge of the driving area.

Place them far enough from the pavement to reduce the risk of vehicle damage.

Are solar pathway lights easy to install?

Yes. Many models install using ground stakes and require no electrical wiring. Assembly requirements vary by model.

Commercial & Large Property

Solar Street Light FAQs

What are the benefits of solar street lights?
  • No electrical connection is required at each standalone fixture.
  • Can reduce trenching and underground wiring requirements.
  • Automatic dusk-to-dawn operation is available on many models.
  • Useful for parking lots, roads, farms, HOAs, and commercial properties.
  • Solar operation reduces dependence on grid electricity.
Are solar street lights bright enough for parking lots?

Commercial solar street lights are available in high-output configurations for parking areas, private roads, commercial properties, farms, warehouses, HOAs, and other large outdoor spaces.

The correct fixture depends on area dimensions, mounting height, desired light levels, spacing, and operating requirements.

How high should a solar street light be installed?

Mounting height varies by model and project. Many solar street lighting applications use poles between approximately 10 and 20 feet.

Commercial projects should be evaluated based on fixture output, beam pattern, pole spacing, and the area being illuminated.

How far apart should solar street lights be installed?

There is no single spacing that works for every fixture or project. Recommended spacing depends on lumens, optics, mounting height, site layout, desired light levels, and whether fixtures are installed on one or both sides of the area.

Send us your project dimensions and preferred pole height for a product recommendation.

Can solar street lights stay on all night?

Many models are designed for dusk-to-dawn operation. Runtime depends on battery capacity, charge level, weather, brightness settings, motion settings, and the specific fixture.

Will solar street lights work during several cloudy days?

Many commercial solar lighting systems include battery storage designed to support operation during cloudy weather.

Backup runtime varies significantly by model, battery capacity, lighting mode, weather conditions, and solar availability.

Can solar street lights be mounted on existing poles?

Many fixtures can be installed on compatible existing poles if the pole, mounting diameter, bracket, structural capacity, and installation conditions meet the fixture requirements.

What information should I send for a commercial lighting project?

For the best recommendation, send:

  • Project location or ZIP code
  • Area dimensions
  • Photos or site plan
  • Preferred pole height
  • Desired brightness or application
  • Expected nighttime operating hours
  • Any special mounting requirements

Installation & Maintenance FAQs

Can I install a solar light under a tree?

We generally don't recommend installing the solar panel in heavy shade. Trees can significantly reduce the amount of sunlight available for charging.

Choose a location that receives strong direct sunlight whenever possible.

How should I clean my solar lights?

Wipe the solar panel with a soft damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, pollen, and other buildup. Keeping the panel clean helps maintain charging efficiency.

How often should I clean the solar panel?

Maintenance needs depend on the environment. Areas with dust, pollen, leaves, bird activity, or nearby construction may require more frequent cleaning.

For many installations, checking and cleaning the panel every few months is a good starting point.

Why did my solar light stop working?

Common causes include:

  • Dirty solar panel
  • Worn rechargeable battery
  • Insufficient sunlight
  • Power switch turned OFF
  • Nearby artificial light affecting the dusk sensor
  • Improper installation or loose connection
Do LED bulbs need to be replaced?

Most integrated LED solar fixtures are designed for long-term use and do not use a conventional replaceable household bulb.

Check your specific product listing or manual for serviceable components.

How long does it take to fully charge a solar light?

Charging time varies by model and sunlight conditions. Many products require approximately 6–8 hours of good direct sunlight for a strong charge.

What solar light is best for a driveway?

For driveway edges and decorative guidance, pathway lights are often a good option. For stronger illumination or security, consider solar flood lights, spotlights, or appropriately sized solar street lights.

The best choice depends on driveway length, width, mounting location, desired brightness, and available sunlight.

What is the difference between pathway, flood and street lights?

Pathway lights are designed primarily for lower-level decorative and guidance lighting.

Flood and spot lights provide more focused or broader illumination for landscaping, walls, garages, yards, and security applications.

Solar street lights are generally designed for larger areas such as parking lots, roads, farms, HOAs, and commercial properties.
